The Garland-South Garland Game

South Garland is best known for the school's rivalry with Garland High School, particularly in the two schools' annual crosstown football game. This rivalry is the oldest and most genuine of its kind in the Garland ISD, since Garland (est. 1903) was the city's first high school and South Garland (est. 1964) was the second, establishing an instant enmity between what was perceived as the "original" by one side and the "new, improved" by the other.
There has been 39 total meetings between the two schools with Garland leading the series with 22 victories to South Garland's 16. There has also been one tie which came in 1982.
