Facilities

The station has a small brick signal box on platform 2, which is normally switched out except when the communications link to Metrol fails. The station is bypassed by Sydenham bound trains except during trackwork on the Werribee line due to the low patronage of the station and also due to that the station only has two platforms. It has a small shelter and a Telstra payphone on platform 2, with a very basic, but larger shelter on platform 1, similar to what is found at most bus stops. A coin-only Metcard vending machine and two validators are located in the subway for access to the platforms.
The station's facilities are currently being refurbished - a new fence is being erected and the ground has been paved with concrete.

Special Events

Only 17 December 2004, The first X'trapolis 100 to run in revenue service made a special trip from Flinders Street to South Kensington and back again.
