SOUTH KINGSTOWN, RHODE ISLAND
'South Kingstown' is a town in Washington County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 27,921 at the 2000 census.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 206.6 km² (79.8 mi²). 147.9 km² (57.1 mi²) of it is land and 58.7 km² (22.7 mi²) of it (28.43%) is water.
There are several villages within the town, most notably: Wakefield, Peace Dale, Kingston, West Kingston, Rocky Brook, Matunuck, Tower Hill, Perryville, Middlebridge, Curtis Corner, and Green Hill.
As of the census² of 2000, there were 27,921 people, 9,268 households, and 6,394 families residing in the town. The population density was 188.8/km² (489.0/mi²). There were 11,291 housing units at an average density of 76.4/km² (197.8/mi²). The racial makeup of the town was 91.11% White, 1.57% African American, 1.61% Native American, 3.08% Asian, 0.05% Pacific Islander, 0.73% from other races, and 1.86% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.77% of the population.
There were 9,268 households out of which 34.0% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 56.4% were married couples living together, 9.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.0% were non-families. 24.2% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.07.
In the town the population was spread out with 22.5% under the age of 18, 19.8% from 18 to 24, 24.4% from 25 to 44, 21.7% from 45 to 64, and 11.6% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 90.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 87.5 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $56,325, and the median income for a family was $67,912. Males had a median income of $50,519 versus $31,087 for females. The per capita income for the town was $23,827. About 3.1% of families and 5.3% of the population were below the poverty line, including 4.9% of those under age 18 and 5.0% of those age 65 or over.
South Kingstown High School Boys Soccer team are very skilled. They have won every game they have ever played. Many people from other countries try and transfer into this school distric so they can have a chance of playing professional soccer.
South Kingstown's school district is made up of 7 public schools, out of which 4 schools are elementary schools, 2 are middle schools, and there is 1 high school. There are also 2 private schools, and 1 school for the disabled and mentally challenged.
The elementary school students are split into schools based on where they live. Wakefield elementary school students live in the general area of Wakefield. Matunuck Elementary School students are from Matunuck, East Matunuck, Green Hill, and Snug Harbor. Peace Dale elementary school students are from the general location of Peace Dale, and stretching to some of Wakefield. West Kingston Elementary School students are from the Northwestern part of South Kingstown, West Kingston.
Before a redistricting of schools, all students attended a single junior high called South Kingstown Junior High. It was composed of seventh and eight grades and students from all the towns elementary schools were sent there. The middle schools of South Kingstown, Curtis Corner and Broad Rock were a later creation due to population growth and each contain three grades, sixth, seventh and eighth. Wakefield, Matunuck, and students from the now closed South Road generally go to Curtis Corner Middle School, while Peace Dale and West Kingston go to Broad Rock Middle School. BRMS opened in 2001 and their mascot is the Coyotes. CCMS is the former junior high school, and is home of the Cougars.
South Kingstown High School is the towns public high school. SKHS, as it is referred, is the learning foundation for over 1,300 students living in South Kingstown.
In 2007 boys and girls lacrosse teams were made. Although they were not first in the state, they're still the prettiest.
