SPENCERVILLE, ONTARIO

'Spencerville' is a small rural community located in Eastern Ontario, about one hour south of Ottawa on Highway 416. It falls within the municipality of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal in Leeds and Grenville United Counties.
Three churches are found in the community: Spencerville United Church, St. Laurence O'Toole Catholic Church, and St. John's Presbyterian Church. There is also an elementary school with students from Grades 4 to 8 called Centennial '67 Public School. The surrounding countryside is mainly agricultural (dairy, beef, poultry, and swine). Spencerville holds the annual Spencerville Fair and a new Highland Games.
Spencerville is also home to the Spencerville Mill, an old grist mill on the South Nation River. Spencerville, with only one main intersection, has a public library, a Canada Post outlet, a garden store, motel, two restaurants, two general stores, one gas bar with an LCBO inside, a Home Hardware, a woodstove store, an antiques store and a funeral home.
