SPILLINS

Spillins is a fictional character from the Edge Chronicles, a series of books written by Chris Riddell and Paul Stewart. Spillins is an oakelf who keeps watch on Wind Jackal's ship, the Galerider. Although Spillins is only in one book, The Clash of the Sky Galleons, he is the longest-standing member of Wind Jackal's crew and when the captain dies, this means that he has to draw out the shryke teeth to decide who will be the new captain. Oakelf's are also able to see other people's auras, an important part to the story. Quint has a good aura, which is blue, whilst his father, Wind Jackal, driven mad in his attempts to catch and kill his treacherous quartermaster Turbot Smeal, is a poisonous shade of green. Thaw Daggerslash, has changing auras, his being an ambitious purple at the start and then a hideous, boiling red when he learns that Quint has been crowned the new captain of the Galerider. Spillins does not die in the Clash of the Sky Galleons, but he does not appear in any of the other books, so we must assume he died in the 30 years between the Quint and the Twig series.
