SPRING-FORD AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT
The 'Spring-Ford' Area School District is a K-12 school district mainly based in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States, and expands into Chester County, Pennsylvania. The Spring-
'''F'''ord Area School District got its name because it originally encompassed Royersford, Pennsylvania, and Spring City, Pennsylvania, but now incl'''U'''des other, smaller towns su'''C'''h as Limeric'''K''', Pennsylvania, Oaks, Pennsylvania, and Upper Providence Township, Pennsylvania. 'Spring-Ford''s symbol is the ram, a male sheep, and the school colors are navy blue and old gold. The Spring-Ford school district is the second largest school district in eastern Pennsylvania, right behind North Penn school district.
In recent years, Spring-Ford (in particular the high school) has been in the spotlight due to a variety of scandals. Coale was forced to resign. She was quickly replaced by Dr. Marsha Hurda.
In separate litigation, many students and teachers have alleged the air in the schools is unsafe. Extensive molding has been found in the ceilings and it remains to be seen whether the district will pay millions to cover the medical conditons of these individuals. Medical problems range from chronic breathing disorders to severe headaches.
The Spring-Ford High School women's tennis team has become very reputable. In 2002, Courtney McClurkin won the PAC-10 singles championship, breaking a multi-decade winning streak by Upper Perkiomen High School. In later years, Kaeley McCabe went on to win the singles championship twice, as well as garnering two doubles championships.
