SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS (AMTRAK STATION)

'Springfield Union Station' is an Amtrak station in Springfield, MA. The station was built in 1926 by the Boston and Albany Railroad to serve the many rail lines feeding into the city. It was the third such station to occupy the area. In the 1970s, the main building was condemned. Amtrak constructed its own modest facility on track level. A currently stalled plan to renovate the building and bring bus service to the station has been in the works for several years.
