'Springfield Secondary School' is a secondary school located in Tampines, the eastern part of Singapore. Its current principal is Tang-Chan Yueh Tarn and its vice-principal is Edward Nathan. It has around 1,300 pupils and 81 teachers. It has achieved the Sustained Achievement Award twice in 2004 and 2005, thanks to mainly the Boys' Brigade 23rd Singapore Company and the National Cadet Corps Land Unit.

History


The construction of Springfield Secondary School began in 1992. The school was originally given the name Tampines West Secondary School. However, the name "Springfield" was officially adopted on 21 December 1992.
Springfield started functioning in 1993 with eight classes at Tampines Secondary School. It then moved to its present site in 1993 and was officially opened by Yatiman Yusof, MP for Tampines GRC, on 15 September 1995.

School Logo


The blade of green grass forms the letter "S". The glowing sun, together with the green grass, forms the letter "f". The three rows of rich, golden earth provide the foundation. Together, they represent Springfield Secondary School. The grass, sun and earth depict life, energy and growth. the grass is also shaped to represent a hand. Symbolically, it portrays the tender care by which the school nurtures pupils to become wholesome adults.

The music was done by Soh Kay Cheng, while the lyrics was done by Rosa Lein.
