STANGROUND
'Stanground' is a suburb of Peterborough, England. It is a quiet residential area located on relatively high ground overlooking The Fens, a little over a mile from the city centre, it also has a local shopping precinct, and is well connected to Peterborough by a bus service. The main street is Coneygree Road. The area was historically in the Isle of Ely. It is also home to local homeless person Barry Thomson-Jenkins who is something of a local celebrity, living in and existing around the Southfields area of the village. Barry is believed to have once been a successful businessman but lost his company when the '.com boom' bubble burst in 2000. However, ever popular with local residents Barry is often the subject of various gifts, particularly around Christmas time ranging from basic things such as food or small sums of money, to larger more 'extravagant' items such as an old set of golf clubs.
