STAR WARS: BATTLEFRONT II

(Redirected from Star Wars Battlefront II)

'''Star Wars: Battlefront II (SWB2)''' is a first-person shooter/third-person shooter (interchangeable) video game developed by Pandemic Studios and LucasArts, and released in North America on November 1, 2005, for Microsoft Windows, Xbox, PlayStation Portable, and the PlayStation 2. There are several differences between ''Battlefront II'' and the original '', such as playable Jedi characters, new unit classes including new armor in the case of the Republic Clone Troopers (note: The armor is the same as the first game on the Geonosis map), space battles, and story campaigns, as well as '' content. The release date coincided with the release of ''Revenge of the Sith'' on DVD.
''Battlefront II'' expands upon the original game's single-player experience with mission-based objectives drawn from ''Star Wars'' Episodes I through VI. It is a story-based campaign which revolves around the 501st Legion as the unit evolves from the Old Republic clone troopers to Imperial stormtroopers. The storyline spans more than 16 new locations, many from ''Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith'', including volcanic Mustafar and the space battle above Coruscant. Many maps that came from the original ''Battlefront'' were edited and improved, like the Naboo "Theed" battlefield, but others were left out of the game, making only one map per planet, with the exception of Tatooine ("Mos Eisley" and "Jabba's Palace"). Also included are battles from the original trilogy, such as fights aboard the ''Tantive IV'', Princess Leia's blockade runner, shown immediately at the beginning of ''.
This game is now an Xbox Platinum Hits game and a Sony Greatest Hits game in the USA and an Xbox Classics and Playstation Platinum game in the UK. The success of the game led to a spin-off in the form of '', due in October 2007.

Galactic Conquest

One difference between the first and second Battlefront games is the Galactic Conquest mode. In this game, Galactic Conquest allows bonuses to be purchased by credits gained from playing battles. Also, at the beginning, each side only has the basic infantry class and the pilot class, with each other class to be purchased with these credits: heavy infantry, snipers, and engineers are 1000 credits, Commander and Special classes are 1800 credits, and Marines are 800 credits. Also, extra fleets can be purchased for a strategic advantage; the formula for the cost of each new fleet in credits is the current number of fleets on the map x 1000.
Opposing factions move fleets around in a turn-based style, with battles beginning if fleets meet in the same place on the map or if a fleet moves over a planet. If two fleets meet over a planet or in empty space, a space battle begins. If only one fleet is over a planet, a land battle begins.
