'Stephen Tyng Mather High School' is a high school.
Mather High School is located in one of Chicago's most diverse areas. Mather is a neighborhood high school with a college preparatory emphasis. More than 75 percent of students speak a language other than English at home. Mather's Bilingual/English as a Second Language (ESL) program is central to the school's curriculum.
The faculty and staff reflect the multicultural backgrounds of Mather's Students and serve as translators, role models, and mentors. Mather is committed to creating an environment that fosters student achievement Honors-level classes are available for qualified students.
Advanced placement (AP) classes are offered in art/studio art, English lanquage and composition, English literature and composition, U.S. History, U.S. Government, European history, calculus, chemistry, German, and Spanish. Virtual High School classes are offered in a wide variety of subjects at various ability levels.

Chris Jones Selected as Principal.
Chris Jones has been selected as the next principal of Mather. A Mather alum (Class of '86) and former Mather mathematics teacher, Jones is currently Assistant Principal at Taft High School. He will begin his 4 year term as principal on July 1. About his new position he said, "I look forward to being part of the Mather family. It feels good to be coming home."

The school campus shares two acres (56,000 m²) with Mather Park.
Note: School is scheuled for rebuild, probably begenning in the next two years.(The school was to be rebuilt in 1996, but then the money was used to built North Side Col. Prep.)
=Students=
The students are offered the most expensive programs in the city of Chicago. The school has a 1.1% dropout rate as of 2007school report, and 98.9% of seniors intend on going to college after graduation. [1]
The school has many programs that allows students to join, most offer college credits. More than 80% of the students joing such programs successfully complete their course.
There is significant overcrowding in the school, as there are 11 different periods to disperse the many students among. There are surprisingly few lecturers in each classroom, with the mass overcrowding seen in most of the world, with the average class size being 25.
