STRATFORD ON AVON AND BROADWAY RAILWAY

The 'Stratford on Avon and Broadway Railway' project (SBR) aims to re-open the closed railway from Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire to Broadway, Worcestershire. If successful, it could link up with the proposed northern extension of the Gloucestershire Warwickshire Railway at Broadway.

Overview

A short section of track remains as a freight-only line from Honeybourne to Long Marston and initial efforts are concentrated on this.
The SBR project is run by the 'Stratford on Avon and Broadway Railway Society (1999) Limited' (SBRS). The Society has locomotives and rolling stock stored at the former Ministry of Defence depot at Long Marston but the site is not open to the public at present.
The Society has a new website and publishes a newsletter for members entitled ''The Shakespeare Express''.
