STUART BRAITHWAITE
'Stuart Leslie Braithwaite' (born 10 May, 1976) is the lead member of the Scottish post-rock band Mogwai. He mainly plays electric guitar, and sometimes sings.

Early life
He grew up listening to records by The Cure, Joy Division, The Stooges, The Velvet Underground, Black Sabbath, and many other artists. ''Disintegration'' by The Cure was the first album he bought. While learning guitar, the first song he learned to play was "Heroin" by The Velvet Underground. He went to Stow College in Glasgow at one point, playing the guitar solo from "Another Girl, Another Planet" by The Only Ones to get in. He eventually graduated with a Diploma in Music.

Mogwai

Braithwaite met Dominic Aitchison at a Ned's Atomic Dustbin concert at the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow on 5 December 1992, and three years later, they formed Mogwai.
Other musical projects
Deadcat Motorbike
Before playing in Mogwai, Stuart played guitar and sang in a band called Deadcat Motorbike, who played their last show at the old 13th Note bar in Glasgow, in June 1995. It was also around this time that Stuart drummed for a band called Eska.
Mighty Joe Young Trio
In 2000, he played with a band called Mighty Joe Young Trio, who played at least one show.
Solo Acoustic Shows
In 2000 and 2002, Stuart performed a few solo acoustic shows.
The Sick Anchors
In 2002, Stuart, Aidan Moffat (a good friend of Stuart's) and Colin "Sheepy" McPherson released an eponymously titled EP under the name "The Sick Anchors".
Personal life
Stuart currently lives in Glasgow with his wife, music executive Grainne Braithwaite and their two dogs, Princess and Rambo. He is vegetarian. He is a supporter of Celtic FC. He has said that ''Hero'' and ''The Exorcist'' are his favourite films. His "guitar heroes" are Jimi Hendrix, Robert Smith, Nick Drake, and Poison Ivy. He has a brown belt in Karate.
