'Surgeon General' can have several different meanings.
'In the United States:'

★ The Surgeon General of the United States is the head of the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps and thus the leading spokesperson on matters of public health in the U.S. government.

★ Many U.S. states also have a Surgeon General serving a similar role.

★ The medical services of the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, and U.S. Air Force are each headed by a 'Surgeon General':

'In the United Kingdom:'
