SWALE STAKES

The 'Swale Stakes' is a race for thoroughbred horses and run at Florida's Gulfstream Park each year. Named for Swale, winner of 1984's Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, the race is open to horses age three, willing to race seven furlongs on the dirt.
The Swale is a Grade II race that offers a purse of $150,000, and is a prep for the Florida Derby.
Swale won the Florida Derby in 1984.
