TV PATROL WORLD

'''TV Patrol World''' is the flagship national network and longest-running news broadcast of ABS-CBN in the Philippines. It can be heard in DZMM at the radio and its TV segment, DZMM TeleRadyo. Since its inception in 1987 (as '''TV Patrol'''), it has been the and longest running Filipino primetime newscast. The newscast pioneered the Philippine newscasts, with fast-paced delivery of news reports, accompanied with flashy graphic animations and music. This was soon imitated by other newscasts in the Philippines.
It is broadcast from the ABS-CBN Broadcast Complex in Quezon City.

When it debuted on March 2, 1987, it was known simply as ''TV Patrol''. Philippine Vice President Noli de Castro was one of the principal anchors of ''TV Patrol'' in its debut, along with Robert Arevalo who was eventually replaced by Francisco "Kiko" Evangelista after two months, Mel Tiangco, and Angelique Lazo, and later Ted Failon and Christine Bersola in place of Angelique Lazo.[1] Also, Ernie Baron served as the programme's chief meteorologist and provided viewers trivia pertaining to science and history. Mel Tiangco moved to GMA Network when she was suspended for doing a TV commercial. Eventually, De Castro became the sole anchor.
When De Castro ran for the Philippine Senate in 2001, he was replaced by Henry Omaga-Diaz who frequently substituted for De Castro in the past. He was soon joined by Korina Sanchez and Aljo Bendijo. Marc Logan served as the news reader of trivial segments and features. After several changes in the anchor chair, the newscast was anchored by Sanchez and Julius Babao until November 19 2004, before being reformatted to ''TV Patrol World''.[2]
It still holds the record of having the highest rating news when former anchor Korina Sanchez had an exclusive live interview with Kris Aquino regarding the latter's break-up with Joey Marquez.[3] According to AGB, the interview had a rating of 47.2% at Mega-Manila.

At present, the newscasts' main anchors are Ted Failon, Julius Babao, and Karen Davila. Aside from the three, special segments are anchored by ''Kuya'' Kim Atienza (weather, knowledge and animal trivia), and Phoemela Baranda (Star Patrol). It is aired nationwide by the network every Weeknights at 6:30-7:45 p.m. on ABS-CBN. (10:30 a.m. UTC, 5:30 a.m. US EST). It is also shown abroad through The Filipino Channel, and simulcasted via the AM radio stations: DZMM Radyo Patrol 630, DYAB Radyo Patrol 1512 Cebu and DXAB Radyo Patrol 1296 Davao. And via the interactive radio through DZMM TeleRadyo. TV Patrol World recently updated it's logo design, soundtrack and 3D graphic animation sets but the news format remain the same, with floating large projection screens that allow the anchors to virtually "talk" to correspondents in live feeds (usually used during weekend editions).
TV Patrol World's report about the PhilSports Arena stampede became a silver medal recipient in the 2007 New York Festivals Television Programming and Promotion Awards.[4] The newscast also became a regional semi-finalist in the News Category for the 2007 International Emmy Awards.[5]. Bandila, on the other hand, is a nominee of the prestigious award for the News Category for it's report on the Subic Rape Case.[6][7]
===Weekend editions (TV Patrol Sabado and TV Patrol Linggo) ===
The newscast's weekend editions, retitled ''TV Patrol Sabado'' (Saturday) and ''TV Patrol Linggo'' (Sunday) from ''TV Patrol World'' and anchored by Alex Santos and Bernadette Sembrano, are broadcast on Saturdays at 8:30-9:00 p.m. & Sundays at 6:00-6:45 p.m. Manila time (12:30 p.m. UTC, 7:30 a.m. US EST). It is also shown abroad (seen live in the Asia-Pacific region) through The Filipino Channel.
Prior to Sembrano and Santos, former anchors of the weekend edition include Ces Oreña-Drilon and Henry Omaga-Diaz (both now anchors of ''Bandila''). The weekend editions have been on-air since 2004.

Theme Music

The music used by TV Patrol during 1987-1992 is from the Greek composer Vangelis with the track "Pulstar". After that on 1992-1996, Ryan Cayabyab composed an original theme for both TV Patrol & The World Tonight. When Noli de Castro went solo , it adopted the music entitled "Allegro" from Gari Communications. "Allegro" originated on KPIX in 1992 .To this day, TV Patrol World still uses the same melodic theme with re-arrangement done by Jimmy Antiporda (the old theme still used in the radio). The present theme rearranged sometimes.

Parodies

★ In Goin' Bulilit, TV Patrol World became 'GB Patrol World' and their small version, 'GB Patrol Small World'. The Sunday segment became 'GB Patrol Bingo'.

★ In Ang TV, it was entitled 'Ang TV Patrol'

★ During its early days, it has a smaller edition named 'Jr. TV Patrol' which aired on ABS-CBN until it become an Ang TV segment. One of the broadcasters was Ronda Patrol correspondent Doland Castro.
