TALLAHASSEE, FLORIDA METROPOLITAN STATISTICAL AREA

The 'Tallahassee, Florida Metropolitan Statistical Area' is a Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA) consisting of Gadsden County, Jefferson County, Leon County and Wakulla County in the state of Florida in the USA. The principal city in the MSA is Tallahassee, located in Leon County. In 2005 the population of the MSA was 334,886.[1] The Tallahassee Standard Metropolitan Statistical Area (SMSA) was first defined after the 1970 United States Census, and included only Leon County. Wakulla County was added to the SMSA after the 1980 census. After the 1990 census, Wakulla County was removed from the MSA and Gadsden County was added. Jefferson County and Wakulla County (for the second time) were added to the MSA after the 2000 census.
