TANGO IN THE NIGHT

'''Tango in the Night''' is an album by the British-American band Fleetwood Mac, released in 1987 (see 1987 in music). It spawned the singles "Big Love", "Everywhere", "Little Lies", "Seven Wonders", "Family Man" and "Isn't It Midnight".
Stevie Nicks was predominantly absent from the recording sessions due to the demands of her solo career and a spell at the Betty Ford clinic (drugs and alcohol had affected most of the band since the Mirage album). The album was therefore mostly recorded before Nicks' involvement, however she insisted that Buckingham allow her to add backing vocals to some of existing recordings, as well as including three of her own songs: ''"Seven Wonders"'' (a US Top 20 hit), ''"When I See You Again"'', and ''"Welcome To The Room...Sara"'', which was written during her stay at Betty Ford. ''"Seven Wonders"'' was written by songwriter Sandy Stewart with "additional lyrics" by Nicks. Allegedly, this was due to Nicks mishearing one of the original lines in the song and adding her own words ("all the way down you held the line" became "all the way down to Emmiline"), and so she received a co-writing credit for it.
Despite the album's huge success, especially in the UK where the album hit #1 three times between 1987 and 1988, Buckingham left the band soon after its release following a heated confrontation due to his refusal to tour for the album. This was therefore the final studio album released by the band's most successful line-up: Lindsey Buckingham, Stevie Nicks, Christine McVie, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood, though this line-up reconvened in 1997 for a tour and the live album The Dance.
The striking cover art for the album was a painting by Australian artist Brett-Livingstone Strong which was hanging in Buckingham's home, a homage to the 19th Century French painter Henri Rousseau, emulating his colourful jungle theme works such as ''The Snake Charmer'' and ''The Repast Of The Lion''.
