TATYANA LYSENKO


'Tatyana Viktorovna Lysenko' (, born October 9, 1983 in Bataysk) is a Russian hammer thrower. She holds the current world record with 77.80 metres, achieved on 15 August 2006 in Tallinn.
Her first world record was 77.06 metres, achieved on July 15, 2005 in Moscow, beating the old record of Mihaela Melinte by 0.99 metres.[1] On 12 June 2006 she lost the record to Gulfiya Khanafeyeva, who threw 77.26 metres at the Russian athletics championships in Tula.[2] However, Lysenko threw 77.41 metres on 24 June in Zhukovsky[3] and 77.80 metres in Tallinn, Estonia on 15 August.[4]
In 2007 she improved to 78.61 metres at the All-Russian Athletics competition in Sochi.[5] Ratification of this throw is still pending.
On July 21, 2007 it has been reported that she has failed a drug test, testing positive for a women's hormone blocker. The substance is not on WADA's banned drugs list. The result of "B" sample test is pending. [6].
