'Taufers (Tubre)' (Italian: ''Tubre''; German: ''Taufers im Münstertal''; Archaic (881AD): ''Tuberis''; Latin: ''Tubernus'') is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the province of Bolzano-Bozen in the Italian region Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol, located about 80 km northwest of the city of Trento and about 70 km west of the city of Bolzano (Bozen), on the border with Switzerland. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 953 and an area of 45.8 km².^[1]
The municipality of Taufers (Tubre) contains the ''frazioni'' (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Pontevilla and Rivaira.
Taufers (Tubre) borders the following municipalities: Glurns (Glorenza), Mals (Malles), Prad (Prato), Stilfs (Stelvio), Lü (Switzerland), Müstair (Switzerland), Santa Maria Val Müstair (Switzerland), Scuol (Switzerland), and Valchava (Switzerland).
