'Teen pop' is a genre of music which is marketed to preteens and teenagers. Producers Max Martin, Kara DioGuardi and Jay Orpin are pioneer songwriters of this genre of music.

Teen pop in the 21st century could be in a form of rap music, pop-punk, emo or music made by boy bands-girl groups/pop icons. Most teen pop in the 2000s have a very light and danceable feel, catchy melodies and often whimsical lyrics about happiness and love.
