TERRY HERSHEY PARK

'Terry Hershey Park' is in west Houston, Texas, USA. It has a network of walking and biking trails that run along Buffalo Bayou from State Highway 6 to the Sam Houston Tollway
The park is named after Terry Hershey, a conservationist who led a campaign to keep the banks of Buffalo Bayou from being paved.^[1]

Popularity

The park is a popular biking & jogging destination for most residents near the bayou. Peak times are from 3:00 PM-5:30 PM, when the weather gets cooler.
There are also many steps leading down to the bayou, built by residents. Usually, at the end of them, there are small patios and potted plants. Many people like to dine in the shade along the bayou.

Bike trails

There are many different biking trails along the bayou, including the "Anthills," located mainly on the south bank of the Buffalo Bayou.
Most of the pathed walkways along the bayou have small biking trails running parallel to them. These dirt trails give bikers the opportunity to steer away from joggers.
The Anthills, and other trails, run through the thick forest. They are mainly hidden from pedestrian view and run very near the bayou.

Pollution

The banks of the bayou are usually coated with trash, such as soda cans and plastic shopping bags. Some large objects, such as plastic toy cars, can sometimes also be found floating in the bayou.
It is not known if the park has already taken action with this issue, yet it does encourage people not to litter through signs and good placement of litter bins.
