TETRANITROGEN
As reported in the January 18, 2002 Edition of ''Science'' at the University of Rome La Sapienza, Fulvio Cacace and his colleagues created a novel form of nitrogen known as 'tetranitrogen'. It is an unstable polynitrogen molecule that may be useful in such applications as propellants and explosives due to its ability to release a lot of energy when it breaks apart.
