THALE
'Thale' (pronunciation: TAH-leh) is a town in the district of Harz, Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. It is situated on the river Bode, approx. 8 km west of Quedlinburg. Famous sites are the Bode valley (Bodetal), the Hexentanzplatz (witches dancing place) and the Rosstrappe (hoof print). Latter two are famous mountains. On the Hexentanzplatz is a large open air theater and a zoo.
Thale is also the seat of the ''Verwaltungsgemeinschaft'' ("collective municipality") Thale, which consists of the following municipalities (population in 2005 between brackets):
