THE BERESFORD

'The Beresford' (211 Central Park West) is an upscale apartment building in New York City. The architect, Emery Roth, was famous for building luxury apartments and hotels throughout the city. The Beresford is one of the three most prestigious apartments on the Upper West Side. The Dakota is the the southernmost, ten blocks from the Beresford. The San Remo, also designed by Roth, is the tallest. The Beresford is the largest and takes its name from the Hotel Beresford which had occupied the same site. The Beresford has two main façades: one overlooking Central Park, and the other Manhattan Square, the location of the American Museum of Natural History. Current residents include comedian Jerry Seinfeld and tennis player John McEnroe.
