THE DISTRICT

'''The District''' was a television police drama which aired on CBS from October 7, 2000 to May 1, 2004. The show follows the work and personal life of the chief of Washington, D.C.'s Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). The show marked ''Coach'' star Craig T. Nelson's return to TV, as well as future ''Save the Last Dance'' star Sean Patrick Thomas's first major role.
''The District'' was inspired by real-life experience of former New York Deputy Police Commissioner Jack Maple who also created the show along with Terry George.
