Synopsis

Jamie King (Jamie Foxx) is an aspiring musician from Terrell, Texas who has come to Los Angeles to pursue a career in music. He then puts his career on hold to work in his family's hotel The King's Tower, which is owned by his Uncle Junior King (Garrett Morris) and his Aunt Helen King (Ellia English). He has two co-workers, the sexy smooth talking Fancy (Garcelle Beauvais) and the odd nemesis Braxton (Christopher B. Duncan).

★ An instance of breaking the fourth wall occurred in the episode ''Traffic School Daze'', where Fancy says to Jamie that ''"I wonder who watches the hotel when we're not here."'' Jamie replies, ''"No one, this is a TV show."'' Jamie has also said that he wishes he had his own television show.

★ Jamie King's name is also a name of a real life choreographer.

★ This was one of the last African-American sitcoms to be shot on video.

★ Jamie and Fancy eventually "hooked up" on the show.

★ On one episode Jamie said to Fancy, ''" Why don't you go back to your other job, Paper, Plastic?"''

★ In the episode "Men-o-Pause", when Fancy, Jamie, and Braxton try to get Helen and Jr. back together, the song that Fancy and Braxton ("Doin' it in the park, doin it after dark, ooooh yea") were singing was the Blackbyrd's hit "Rock Creek Park"

★ In the episode "Lonesome Cow-Bro" when Thick Neck said to Florence (Fancy's ancestor) that she's going to dance her to sleep, that was mainly a reference to "Jabba the Hutt" in "Star Wars episode VI Return of the Jedi" as Jabba likes to be amused from his "Twi'lek Hookers" dancing him to sleep. Also when "Jeramiah" drove in to the King's Towers in the Chevrolet Impala, Thick Neck said "What kind of contraption is that?" "J.R Junior King" (Junior King's ancestor) said "Looks like some kind of Time Machine.". This is probably a homage to Back to the Future with the name DeLorian

★ Jamie Foxx won the NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series" in 1998, and was nominated again each of the next three years. The show was nominated for "Outstanding Comedy Series" in 1999 and 2001.

DVD Releases

★ Only the first season of ''The Jamie Foxx Show'' has been released on DVD, released in February 2005. It is highly unlikely that more season DVDs will be released due to poor DVD sales for the first season.^[1]

★ Several Jamie Foxx Shows episodes have been featured in AOL's In2TV campaign which allows Internet users to watch streamed or download high resolution episodes of various favorite classics.^[2]
