THE KISS BEFORE THE MIRROR

'''The Kiss Before the Mirror''' is a 1933 suspense film directed by James Whale about a prosecutor (Frank Morgan) who realizes that his own wife (Nancy Carroll) might be having an affair while he prosecutes a cuckolded wife-killer. The supporting cast includes Gloria Stuart (''Titanic'') and Walter Pidgeon. The film was remade by Whale five years later as ''Wives Under Suspicion''.
Frank Morgan subsequently played the title role in ''The Wizard of Oz'' in 1939. The cinematographer was Karl Freund, who photographed Fritz Lang's ''Metropolis'' (1927), Tod Browning's ''Dracula'' (1931), and the 1950s television series ''I Love Lucy'', and directed ''The Mummy'' (1932). James Whale directed ''Frankenstein'' (1931) and ''Bride of Frankenstein'' (1935).
