The mall opened in 1982 to provide a shopping mall southwest of downtown Rochester, New York. The mall opened with 3 anchors Sears, JC Penney, and Sibley's. The mall is owned and operated by Wilmorite Properties, Inc, a subsidiary of The Macerich Company.
