THIS IS WHY I'M HOT
'"This Is Why I'm Hot"' is a single by rapper MIMS. It has performed successfully on the ''Billboard'' Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs and ''Billboard'' Hot Rap Tracks charts peaking at number two and number one respectively thus far. This song features samples from Kanye West's "Jesus Walks", E-40's "Tell Me When to Go", Dr. Dre's "Nuthin' But a "G" Thang" and Mobb Deep's "Shook Ones Pt. II". Each sampled song is played when MIMS mentions the area from which each artist originated ("''Shook Ones, Pt. II''" for New York, "''Tell Me When To Go''" the Bay Area, "''Nuthin' But a "G" Thang''" Compton, and "''Jesus Walks''" Chicago).
On February 23, 2007 the song reached the top spot on the U.S. iTunes Store 100 most-downloaded songs, surpassing Justin Timberlake's "What Goes Around.../...Comes Around Interlude". The song debuted at number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot Digital Songs chart, selling 140,874 downloads.
By early March 2007, the online release of the song had propelled it from number 32 to number one on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 in one week; this was the third-greatest rise to number one in the history of the ''Billboard'' Hot 100.[1] It remained at number one in the next week[2] until it was surpassed by "Glamorous", by Fergie and Ludacris the week after in the issue dated March 24, 2007.
MIMS performed the song on ''Wild 'N Out: Spring Break Edition''.
Radio stations in the UK took notice of the song's success in the USA and it is B-Listed on UK Radio.
On June 3,2007 it entered the full UK Singles Chart at the peak of #18. If the chart was only physical, it would have reached #6.

Song highlights
The main chorus, particularly the line "You ain't cuz you not", is considered a logical fallacy, however "you ain't" may refer to not being 'hot' and 'you not' refer to not being 'fly' (see begging the question). In light of this, the song's faulty logic was parodied in a comic strip called "Cyanide and Happiness". Of course MIMS may claim poetic licence wherein you can express something without adhering to the strictest rules of logic.
The Village Voice published a humorous article analyzing and diagramming the various claims made in the lyrics.[3]
In the song MIMS states "I can sell a million sayin' nothing on the track", yet as of July 9 2007 MIMS' record "Music Is My Savior" has only sold 231,000 copies meaning it's yet to go gold in the United States.
