'Thornton' is a neighborhood located in the north-west part of Cranston, Rhode Island on the Johnston line and extends into the Johnston side.
The residents of this neighborhood are predominantly Italian-American.
The Feast of Saint Rocco, held every August on the grounds of St. Rocco's Church, is an important event in this community. Saint Rocco's Church used to be in the Cranston side of Thornton on Clemence Street until the new church, on Atwood Avenue in the Johnston side of Thornton, was opened in 1951.
