'''Toy Soldiers''' is a 1991 action/drama film, directed by Daniel Petrie Jr. It stars Sean Astin, Wil Wheaton, Keith Coogan, Louis Gossett, Jr., Denholm Elliott, Andrew Divoff, T.E. Russell, George Perez, and R. Lee Ermey.
'COLOMBIA:' A terrorist by the name of Luis Cali has taken over the Palace of Justice. Because the US Government has brought his drug kingpin father, Enrique Cali, to a US prison to stand trial, Luis is angry at the United States Government and in order to make a point, he throws a woman off the balcony and throws a judge from his helicopter.
'USA:' The Regis School is a prep school which plays home to many wealthy and rebellious teenagers with important parents who were kicked out of every other school. The teens are watched over by their teachers -- especially Dean Parker and the headmaster. Phil Donoghue is one of the students and his father is the federal judge that is presiding over Enrique Cali's trial. A pair of deputy United States Marshals take him out of the school so that he and his family can be placed in protective custody for the course of the trial.
Unaware that young Donoghue has been removed, Luis Cali takes the school hostage, thinking the son of the judge would be a good bargaining chip. He has his men place explosives all over the school and vows to blow it up if his father is not released. When he finds out who the parents of the rest are, he decides the entire student body of the Regis school would be an even better bargaining chip:
★ Billy Tepper's father is the owner of the third largest construction company in the world.
★ Joey Trotta's father is the New York mob boss Albert Trotta.
★ Hank Giles's father is representative Henry Giles, Jr, the chairman of the Armed Services Committee.
★ Ricardo Montoya's father is a senior partner at an elite law firm, and is a former president of the California Bar Association.
★ Jonathan "Snuffy" Bradberry's father is the chairman of the First Empire Bank of New York, and vice chairman of the Republican Party.
While this is all going on, students Billy Tepper, Joey Trotta, Hank Giles, Ricardo Montoya, Jonathan "Snuffy" Bradberry, and Derek (all friends) decide to fight back against the terrorists. Incorporating the help of the United States Government and their fellow students, the group of friends try to disarm the terrorists, keep everyone safe, and find a way to get the government in without anyone seeing.
