 | The tree of knowledge 1.0 This video was made over a year ago. I had it posted here on youtube for a while but a few months ago decided to take it off. After recently watching it again I decided to repost it despite not being entirely satisfied with its content and presentation. This film could have been so much better and been much more simple and clear in its presentation. It seems to me that a good message should be a common sense sort of of thing, and it should be presented in such a way that anyone can identify with it and they don't have to contemplate too much to live it. Perhaps one day I will have the time and resources to reproduce this theme in a new but similar film. One of the main reasons I decided to repost this film is because of a few small pieces of synchronicity that appeared in it: One has to do with the set of garden tools hanging on the wall just behind my head in the scene where Im sitting next to my sister. Completely unintentionally the shovel hook lines up perfectly with my ears in such a way that the garden shovel handles are on both sides of my head (ears). Although it may seem abstract the significance is as follows: The shovels are a part of a set of lizard themed garden tools (even the hooks have four little lizards on them, they can been seen if one looks closely at the video). The lizard is a metaphor for the serpent, the serpent being the root of the temptation to eat of the tree of knowledge in the story of genesis, that which made man leave the garden of eden) The significance of the shovels being near the ears is that the central advice from the guru (my little sister) is to "just listen", and in doing so one will uproot and transcend the source of negative karma, the source of suffering. To "just listen" is the theme, to just stay completely present and aware, always, to that which is experienced, to forget about knowing anything, to be like an innocent child who is always completely engaged in the moment. So there I am meditating, with my guru, as she says "just listen", and there are garden shovels sprouting from my ears, in a film where digging up those pesky roots is a metaphor for transcending suffering, rediscovering a child like passion for life, and learning to see love beauty and joy everywhere and in everything: enlightenment. It was very interesting to find this synchronous unintended image in this film, I myself didn't even notice it until after I had filmed it. It really seems to bring together the whole basic message of the film together in a very neat little way. I find it absolutely amazing when the universe throws these little pieces of magic our way, it seems to say to us "your on the right track". |

 | Fields of Athenry - Scruffy and the Tullamore Tree Scruffy performs the Fields of Athenry to the Celtic Fans on January 02 2005 on his lonesome. While Scruffy braved the Arctic elements with the Tree's backing on CD Jock and the Serg were sweating it out in Oz at New Year recovery barbecues in 30 degree heat. The gig came about with a simple email to the Celtic football club from the band's Brisbane agent, Highland Paddie. It stated Scruffy was famous in Brisbane (Mental Homes) for singing the "Fields" and was in Scotland for a 4 week holiday. Could Celtic include him in their pre match entertainment? I am a die hard Hibby but the invitation from Celtic's PR man Tony Henderson to allow Scruffy to perform proves to me that Celtic are the club of the people. Long may they reign. Hail Hail! Yours Truly Jock Tullamore Tree are a Brisbane based band who accidentally became popular in the wake of the Riverdance bandwagon and the Irish Theme Pub craze that hit the city in the late 90's. They were (and still are) not taken too seriously by the traditionalists as they concentrate on good pub entertainment delivered with a an irreverent attitude opposed to playing perfect jigs and reels that tend to blend into each other after a few Guinness. The repertoire consists of a few rebel and non rebel Irish and Scottish songs but they also make a mockery of blues, rock and pop songs too. Some famous Irish artists such as Finbar Furey have attended Tullamore Tree performances and stayed to the end. (more likely due to the case of red wine he helped polish off rather than the band's prowess) But he did have a swally with Scruffy after the gig but this is more likely to be caused by the same fascination a bairn would have on their first trip to the zoo. Audience participation is a great part of the act although "Public Humiliation" is a term that rolls of the tongue freely from most observers. It always seems the band are as much victims of this musical and verbal abuse as are the poor individuals Scruffy relentlessly lambasts with the help of a PA system and total lack of political correctness. Scruffy is a singer with a Licence to offend; an expat Glasgow man and long time supporter of the best team in Glasgow who has called Australia home for the last 40 years. (I think Partick Thistle were good in 1966). Next we have a mere newcomer to Australia with only 22 years in the country, Jock (name changed to prevent embarrassment to his family) from Dalkeith (no his fault)ootside Edinburgh plays guitar and mandolin and is not impartial to alcoholic offerings. Last but not least is dinky die Australian, the Sergeant who has only spent 3 and a half weeks in Dalkeith on a drinking holiday with Jock. He plays the bass and guitar and has signed the necessary forms with the Queensland mental health department to allow Jock and Scruffy out to play on weekends. When she was back in her bed again, she couldn't keep the secret and she whispered all the things to her sleeping boyfriend, she thought, she didn't break her oath in this way, because he didn't wake up. In the morning when they awoke, he told her about his 'strange dream' in which she had told him about the angel, and the hope of an afterlife. He was sure that his mission was to spread the word to all people about 'The Land of Lights'. But people interpret faith in their own ways, sometimes for the worse, and all hell began breaking loose. I don't want to tell more about the story, but I think, everyone will find something in this story that is about the human selfishness, blind faith, the pain of helplessness, the pang of conscience...the pain if you lose someone. Not too happy, I know. People won't change, and I wanted to show the biggest faults of mankind through this story." "I had not set out to write a concept album at all. I had an idea for a 4-5 song concept again, just like "Psychogeist" was. But as I wrote newer and newer themes, I felt that it must be a whole concept album in the end. The other band members liked this idea and helped me out with some themes. After we recorded the Hungarian version of "Terra Incognita", I gave all the lyrics to Peter Linka for translating. He is an Australian-Hungarian who worked on the translations of the "Eden?" and "Psychogeist" albums, as well. He is practically a band member. We wanted to make this story available to a wider audience, that's why we made the English translations after the Hungarian albums. Peter did a great job, I think the translation is perfect. Hungarian is a very difficult language and I always write lyrics in Hungarian. So, after he finished his work, we went back with vocalist Zoltan Kiss and we recorded the English lyrics. The music and the instruments are the same as they are on the Hungarian version of the album." It is scheduled to be released on late 2008 for Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It is a new chapter in the Prince of Persia universe and it introduces a new gameplay,along with a fresh "illustrative" visual style. According to Ubidays Interview,a new Prince of Persia will be depicted as a wanderer at first, who while returning home from an adventure with his "bearings" and a donkey named "Lady with Treasure", to spend his rest of life in peace. But all of a sudden, he is caught by a fierce sandstorm, which throws him off of his original path, and he finds himself in a forbidden land - a mythical garden of beauty, dominated at its center by a massive Tree of Life. Imprisoned in the Tree of Life is Ahriman, the "Ancient Evil God of Darkness", who was imprisoned within the tree by his twin brother Ormazd, the "Ancient God of Light". The Prince accidentally unleashes Ahriman from the Tree. After being set free, Ahriman starts corrupting the lands with darkness and evil. The Prince is about to leave the lands and allow the consequences of his mistake to spread on the whole world, he is encountered by a young woman named Elika, a descendant of the Ahuras, a group of people who guarded the imprisonment of Ahriman. They stated to expect a release at the end of 2008, and gave many details about the plot and gameplay in this game. In one such interview, they stated that the general staples of the gameplay are to remain intact, including platforming, and combat. Although the game focuses more on one-on-one combat, similar to the original Prince of Persia trilogy, rather then fighting almost dozens of enemies, like in the Sands of Time trilogy. On May 8, 2008, Ubisoft released an official video of a concept artist designing the Prince character for the game. The "speed art" video shows a full-bodied new prince to be created on Photoshop. There was another fast-forward concept art drawing video released on May 22, detailing a female character Elika. The game will use a heavily modified version of the Schmitar Engine, which was also used in Assassin's Creed. Developers chose to implement an illustrative graphical style, similar to cel-shaded graphics. Other features include improved artificial intelligence, detailed graphics, rich environments and an open-world, that will allow to create a non-linear gameplay. |
