A 'tripoint' is a point at which three lines or surfaces conjoin.
★ The term is applied to the triple point of a chemical substance, at which the solid, liquid and gaseous states can coexist in thermodynamic equilibrium.
★ A tripoint is a geographical point at which the borders of three countries or subnational entities meet. An example of this is the Treriksröset tripoint where the borders of Finland, Norway and Sweden meet. Another example is the Vaalserberg where the borders join of The Netherlands, Germany and Belgium.
