TWIN/TONE RECORDS
'Twin/Tone Records' (also spelled TwinTone) was a record label based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota that operated from 1977 until 1994 and helped several local groups receive national attention. The label was born from the Minneapolis punk rock music scene, which included venues like Jay's Longhorn Bar. The Suburbs were featured as Twin/Tone's first release, ''The Suburbs'' in 1978, as well as the label's last, ''Viva! Suburbs!'' in 1994. Other groups that signed with the label include The Replacements, Babes in Toyland, Agitpop, The Jayhawks, Soul Asylum, The Wallets, Curtiss A, and Pennsylvania-based Ween. The company is currently described as being "in mothballs", only releasing limited amounts of out-of-print material on custom-burned CDs, though some of the more significant material was licensed to Restless Records, part of Rykodisc.
