Termini
US 181 near its northern terminus southeast of San Antonio, Texas.
Its southern terminus is in Corpus Christi, Texas at Interstate 37 near the Gulf of Mexico. In fact, I-37 and US 181 ''share'' termini, in that traffic travelling southbound on I-37 will automatically merge onto northbound US 181, and vice versa.
States traversed
The highway passes through the following states:
★ Texas
Principal cities/Principal highways
★ Corpus Christi, Texas - Interstate 37
★ Portland, Texas
★ Sinton, Texas - US 77
★ Beeville, Texas - US 59
★ Karnes City, Texas
★ Floresville, Texas - US 181 meets Interstate 37 approximately 12 miles (19 km) northwest of Floresville.
All cities listed are county seats except Portland. In keeping with a US highway going through every county/parish seat, US 181 was named accordingly. Three of the above cities have at least one other US highway running through them.
