'USS ''Tatnall'' (DDG-19)', named for Commodore Josiah Tattnall, Jr USN (17941871 (also commandant of the C.S.S. ''Virginia'', an Admiral in the Confederate States Navy, and made the adage "blood is thicker than water" a part of American history), was a ''Charles F. Adams''-class guided missile armed destroyer.
''Tatnall'' was laid down by Avondale Marine at Avondale in Louisiana on 14 November 1960, launched on 26 August 1961 by Mrs. Mary Adams Mason and commissioned on 13 April 1963.
USS ''Tattnall'' was decommissioned on 18 January 1991, stricken from the Naval Vessel Register on 12 June 1993, sold for scrap on 15 April 1994 but the scrap contract was terminated on 1 October 1996 and she was sold to International Shipbreaking Limited at Brownsville in Texas on 10 February 1999.
