USS ''White Plains'' (AFS-4) was the forth Mars class combat stores ship of the United States Navy. USS ''White Plains'' was named after the Battle of White Plains during the American Revolutionary War.
She was laid down on 2 October 1965 by the National Steel & Shipbuilding Co. at San Diego, Calif.; launched on 26 July 1966; sponsored by Mrs. Bob Wilson; and commissioned at the Long Beach Naval Shipyard on 23 November 1968, Capt. Thomas B. Brenner in command.
