UNITED KINGDOM GENERAL ELECTION, 1895


The 'UK general election of 1895' was held from 13th July - 7th August 1895. It was won by the Conservatives, led by Lord Salisbury, who obtained a large majority over Lord Rosebery's Liberals. The Irish Parliamentary Party was split at this time, the majority of its MPs (the "Anti-Parnellites") following John Dillon whilst a rump (the "Parnellites") followed John Redmond.
