The 'University of Strasbourg' in Strasbourg, Alsace, France, is divided into three separate institutions. They are (with approximate specialisations in parentheses):

During World War II the University of Strasbourg was transferred to Clermont-Ferrand and the German Reichsuniversität Straßburg created. In 1943 the Reichsuniversität obtained 76 Jewish prisoners, killed and conserved for future racial research.
