is a municipality in the county of Hordaland, Norway.
Vaksdal was created as a new municipality January 1, 1964 - after the merger of parts of Bruvik, Evanger and Modalen.

The Norse form of the name was probably ''
★ Vágsdalr''. The first element is then the genitive case of ''vágr'' m 'bay', the last element is ''dalr'' m 'valley, dale'.
