'Verdun-sur-le-Doubs' is a small market-town and commune in the Saône-et-Loire ''département'', in France.
Verdun-sur-le-Doubs is a small town (1200 hab.) in southern Burgundy at the confluence Doubs/Saône in the Bresse plain, near Beaune and Chalon-sur-Saône.
It's a very old implantation and plays the role of fortified place at the french kingdom frontier during several centuries.
Today it's an agricol and touristic center well known for fishing, river boating and good eating. The "pôchouse" is the famous local dish with different types of river fishes cooked with dry Burgundy white wine ("Bourgogne aligoté") and cream.
