VINAYAN

'Vinayan' is an Indian film director, mainly of Malayalam movies. He started his career with the film ''Super Star'', in which he used a Mohanlal look-alike in the lead role.[1]
Vinayan is noted for the films ''Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum pinne Njanum'', ''Karumadikkuttan'', ''Oomappenninu Uriyadaapayyan'', ''Dada Saheb'', ''Vellinakshthram'',[2] ''Akasaganga'' and ''Sipayi Lahala''. He has directed both comedy and serious films. Vinayan has also directed fantasy films for children. ''Albhuthadweep'', which tells the story of an island where all the men are short and women normal, and ''Athisayan'', which deals with the story of an extraordinary child, fall in this category. Albhuthadweep is expected to be remade in Hollywood by Ron Howard.[3]
Vinayan has also remade a few of his films into Tamil. He is also a script writer and lyricist.
Vinayan is widely criticised for making over sentimental movies with handi caps and also low standard movies with technical gimmick. His movies are said to attract low standard audience.
