VINOD KAMBLI

'Vinod Ganpat Kambli' (born 18 January 1972, Bombay (now Mumbai), Maharashtra) is a former Indian cricketer, a left-handed batsman for India, Mumbai and Boland. A prodigiously talented player, Kambli never quite fulfilled his potential.
Aged 17, Kambli shared an unbroken partnership of 664 in a schools match with the 16-year-old Sachin Tendulkar, which was a world record partnership at the time. During his early years in cricket Kambli was even considered more gifted than his good friend Sachin Tendulkar, but he never quite succeeded at the top level.
In his first seven Tests he racked up two double-centuries and two centuries. However, technical insecurity against fast short-pitched bowling, and occasional disciplinary problems, militated against his international selection. He played in his last Test match at the age of 24.
The 1996 World Cup semi-final match between India and Sri Lanka was disrupted during the Indian innings by unruly crowd behaviour, and Sri Lanka was declared the winner. Kambli, who was not out, left the field in tears.[1]
Kambli played his last Test in 1995 against New Zealand and his last One-Day International (ODI) in 2000 against Sri Lanka.
