VOLUNTARY CONTROLLED SCHOOL

In a 'voluntary controlled school' in England (almost always church schools), the land and buildings are often owned by a charitable foundation. However, the Local Education Authority employ the school's staff and has primary responsibility for admission arrangements. It is funded by the state and does not charge fees. The pupils have to follow the National Curriculum.
