WNFL


'1440 WNFL' is a commercial radio station located in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The station is locally owned and operated by Midwest Communications, which owns six other stations in Northeast Wisconsin. WNFL mainly focuses on sports, and is an affiliate of Fox Sports Radio. WNFL has the rights to broadcast mid-day Milwaukee Brewers games and all Milwaukee Bucks games. Green Bay Packers games and night & weekend Milwaukee Brewers games can be heard on WNFL's more powerful sister station, WTAQ. WNFL's studios are located in the WBAY building in downtown Green Bay. WNFL's transmitter is located on Bellevue Street in the Green Bay suburb of Bellevue. Weather updates are provided by the 'FOX 11 Severe Weather Lab' at WLUK-TV.
On July 18, 2006, Midwest Communications broke ground on their new, $4.725 Million facility in Bellevue. The facility will be located at WNFL's tower site on Bellevue Street. WNFL and the six other Midwest Communications stations in Northeast Wisconsin will move to the new facility in the Summer of 2007.[1]

The station went on the air in 1947 as 'WJPG-AM,' owned by the Green Bay Press-Gazette. The call letters changed to WNFL-AM when the Green Bay Packers were winning games in the late 1960's.
WNFL was acquired by Midwest Communications in 1996, along with sister stations WNCY-FM and WROE-FM.
