WVOW is the local ABC radio affilite for Southwestern West Virginia based in Logan, West Virginia. It consists of an FM station which broadcasts at a frequency of 101.9 mhz, and an AM station that broadcasts on a frequency of 1290 khz.
WVOW began operation on May 8, 1952. The license for broadcasting was issued in 1951 to Chauncey Browning Sr., who later became a Supreme Court Justice, Grover Combs, and Clerence Meadows, a former West Virgnia Governor. In the station's early years it was located in the Logan Office Building Complex, but in 1959 it moved to the Professional Buildings, its current location. Since the closure of WLOG its main rival, WVOW has become a major station in southern West Virginia. The station now broadcasts a variety of hit music, a series of talk shows, and reruns of old radio sitcoms, and ESPN Radio. During baseball season WVOW is an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves radio network. The station is currently owned by Larry "Speedy" Bevins.
