WEST PARK, CLEVELAND

'West Park' is a west side neighborhood in Cleveland, Ohio. Originally part of Rockport Township, West Park was named after Benjamin West, an early settler. It was annexed to Cleveland in 1922, the last large suburb to become part of the city. It occupies a 12.5 sq. mi. area between W. 117th St. to the Rocky River Valley and from Lakewood's southern boundaries to Brookpark Road. This neighborhood presently encompasses the planning areas of Kamm's Corners, Jefferson, Puritas-Longmead, and Riverside. The southern part of Riverside is mostly land annexed by Cleveland from Brook Park in 1947 and 1995 when the city expanded Cleveland Hopkins International Airport into the territory.
