WIGAN BOROUGH F.C.
'Wigan Borough F.C.' were an English football club from the town of Wigan, Lancashire (now in Greater Manchester).
They entered the Football League's new Third Division North for the 1921-22 season, having previously been members of the Northern League, and spent ten years at this level before being resigning from the league during the 1931-32 season. Shortly afterwards Wigan Borough went out of business and a new club, Wigan Athletic, was formed, although they did not gain membership of the Football League until 1978.
Borough played their home games at Springfield Park. The ground remained in use by Wigan Athletic until the end of the 1998-99 season, when they moved to the JJB Stadium.
