Background
'Wildwing Flashblade' was born on the icy planet of Puckworld and had a relatively normal childhood living with his parents and younger brother, Nosedive. Like most children his age, Wildwing spent most of his time playing ice hockey, which was the most popular sport and pastime on his frigid homeworld. Strongly built and gifted with lightning-fast reflexes, Wildwing excelled at his position as his team's goalie whilst his best friend, Canard Thunderbeak, commanded the rink as team captain. Albeit a devoted and loving older brother, Wildwing often had to choose between being with his friends or watching his little brother, Nosedive, whom many of them viewed as an annoying 'tag-a-long'. As he entered his late teens, Wildwing became one of the finest goaltenders on Puckworld alongside his childhood friend, Canard. Nevertheless, despite his soaring ice hockey career and high regard among his friends, Wildwing's top priority and full attention was always focused on his little brother, Nosedive.
The Saurian Invasion
Wildwing was in his early twenties when the Saurian Invasion occurred, splitting his family apart and scattering them throughout various labor camps where the enslaved Puckworld natives were forced to produce weapons and munitions for the Saurians. Although it is never made clear how long the brothers were enslaved, if they were separated at some point, or if their parents are still alive; it was shown that Wildwing and Nosedive were together when they were approached by Canard, Wildwing's best friend, whilst they were marching towards another labor camp. Unbeknownst to the brothers, Canard had acquired the legendary Mask of Drake DuCaine from an ancient tomb in the mountain of Twin Beaks and had recruited a number of other ducks to form a strike force called the Resistance to combat the Saurian's rule.
After discreetly pulling Wildwing and his little brother into a side alleyway and away from their Saurian guards, Canard explained to the two civilian ducks his plan to destroy the Saurian Overlord's fortress, the Master Tower, and return freedom to Puckworld. Canard soon asked Wildwing to join him and the others on the strike force, but made it very clear to the pair that he 'did not want a little kid tagging along'. Stubborn and unyielding, Wildwing quickly soothed Nosedive's fears by firmly stating that if Canard wanted him, then his little brother came with him. Canard begrudgingly agreed, not pleased by the presence of a child on his strike force and told Wildwing that 'the kid was his responsibility'. Wildwing agreed, making clear that Nosedive was his first and top priority.
When Canard and the strike force invaded Dragaunus' Master Tower, Wildwing followed the team into the tower and left his younger brother to guard the Aerowing. After successfully destroying the Tower's core it begins to collapse, making it impossible for the ducks to escape to the grounded Aerowing before it caves in around them. However, just when the ducks believed that they were all going to die, Nosedive flies the Aerowing up towards a gaping hole in the wall. Wildwing and Tanya both commend the teen on learning to pilot such a complex aircraft in such a short period of time, a feat even Tanya herself would have had a hard time accomplishing. Because of the ducks' brave actions, Puckworld is now presumably free of Saurian rule.
However, Dragaunus and his forces escape in their airship, the Raptor, and open up a dimensional gateway in an attempt to escape. Without a second thought, Canard gave the signal for Nosedive to follow the Saurians into the portal with the Aerowing. Desperate to get rid of the ducks, Dragaunus unleashed an electromagnetic worm that would quickly grow until it was big enough to swallow the Aerowing. Knowing that the worm had to swallow something before it would leave, Canard sacrificed his own life by throwing himself into the worm. Luckily, Canard left behind the Mask of Drake DuCaine, giving it and the leadership of the team to Wildwing.
The Mighty Ducks
Within a few moments both the Raptor and the Aerowing had left the portal and entered a different dimension, landing on Earth. It turned out that the Ducks had landed in downtown Anaheim, California. Wildwing immediately advised his team to be careful in this strange new environment, but once again, his position as an older brother to Nosedive shone through when the younger duck dashed into a nearby comic book store called Captain Comics shortly after landing. It was here that the team met two humans, Thrash and Mookie, whom Nosedive quickly became good friends with. The pair advised the Ducks to head towards a nearby ice hockey stadium since Anaheim had currently had no team at the time.
The Ducks took the two humans advice and headed towards the stadium. In front of the stadium they met Phil Palmfeather, a human desperately searching for an ice hockey team to play in his newly built, but deserted stadium called the Pond. The Ducks explained their situation and love of ice hockey to Phil, who eagerly became their manager and made them a legitimate NHL team known as the Mighty Ducks.
The Ducks, Nosedive especially, were amazed by their new arena and the luxurious living accommodations. The Pond had a hockey rink that doubled as a landing pad for the Aerowing above, a formal headquarters below, and plenty of living space for the six ducks. Tanya immediately built a supercomputer called Drake One to track Dragaunus and his minions' movements on Earth and make sure that the Raptor could not return to Puckworld. On Earth, the Ducks and Dragaunus continued their fight with Wildwing valiantly leading them and commanding the Mask of Drake DuCaine, although there were other villains that also challenged the six Ducks throughout their time on Earth.
